Dallas Blues

Composer: Hart A. Wand

Arranger: M. Annabel Robbins

Publisher: Wand Publishing Co.

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Copyright Year: 1912

Form: Blues

Notes: Dallas Blues is one of the earliest Blues pieces ever published. As such, it changed and evolved over the years. This particular copy is a sixth edition. The cover is very unusual as it does not feature the usual heart in the center found on other editions. Instead, it features strange music notes depicted as hearts & arrows and small heads & bones. The surrounding ornamentation is also different from the standard cover.

Inside is just as strange. The music is a unique arrangement by M. Annabel Robbins. The typesetting is also unusual and appears to have been hand-written and then reproduced. It is assumed, of course, that because the inside designates this as a sixth edition that was published later than 1912.

Lyrics were added in 1918. Click here to view the song version.
